Microneedles for drug delivery

Microneedles are <1-mm sized needles that can delivery drugs minimally-invasively by penetrating the stratum corneum of the skin. The biggest advantage of microneedles is pain-free delivery of drugs to the skin. We are interested in developing low-cost microneedles for self-application in rural settings.

  • 3D Printing of microneedles using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Stereolithography (SLA) and Selective laser sintering (SLS) printers.

  • Microneedle fabrication using biocompatible polymers

  • Characterization using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Brightfield microscopy, UV-Vis Spectroscopy and other techniques.
